Tim Cook said he is preparing several people to lead Apple
Apple CEO Tim Cook said he was thinking about his resignation. Cook said this in an interview with the BBC podcast Dua Lipa: At Your Service.
“We are a company that believes in continuity. And that’s why we have very detailed plans for this,” said the entrepreneur. Cook declined to name possible successors, but admitted that he was preparing several employees for the job.
Tim Cook also said that the next head of the IT giant should be a person who is well acquainted with the specifics of the company. The entrepreneur hinted that his successor was working in a management position at the corporation. “My role is to make sure that the board of directors has someone to choose from to lead,” Cook said.
In a conversation with the podcast host, he said that the company must be ready for change: “You never know what awaits you tomorrow.” When asked whether Cook would work for the corporation in 2050, the entrepreneur replied that he connected his life only with Apple, so he would remain in it “for some time.”
Tim Cook has been working at Apple since 1998, and the entrepreneur has headed the company since August 24, 2011. Cook turned out to be the successor to Apple founder Steve Jobs.
In August 2021, insider Mark Gurman said that Apple CEO Tim Cook would remain at the top of the company until at least 2025. Gurman named top managers Jeff Williams, Craig Federighi, Deirdre O’Brien, Joni Srugi and Eddie Cue as possible successors to the head of the corporation.
