Two months after the death of Luis Alfredo Garavito in prison, a new case of an alleged serial child molester is impacting public opinion in Colombia.

They caught him in the middle of a police operation in the Socorro neighborhood, in the city of Kennedy, in Bogotá. According to what was reported in Infobae, the man has been involved in attacks since 1998.

The subject is nicknamed “The Beast II” and is 62 years old. At least seven are said to be victims of this issue. The first of them, according to Bogotá police, was a niece.

The complaint was filed with authorities on Friday, November 17, 2023. He was arrested five days later.

The institution indicated that the suspect, who arrived in Bogotá from Boyacá, “threatened his victims with a knife, tied their hands and covered their mouths.”

“He allegedly committed sexual acts and forcible carnal access against a minor under the age of 14. This is a male individual, 62 years old, who worked as a plumber or a builder,” said Benavidez, quoted in Infobae.

Those media added that “The Beast II” has five convictions for sexual abuse in Tolima and two arrest warrants in force.

According to Benavidez, the man identified as a sexual predator has been booked into La Picota and La Modelo prisons.

Once again, “The Beast II” is before the authorities, who will determine whether or not it is responsible for such a detestable crime. One woman told Noticias Caracol: “I ask for justice for what he did to my girl and for the other victims (…) I wouldn’t wish this on any child or mother.”
