Google Maps may start listening to you while you drive. Even when you hum while driving

Google is supposed to be working on a new feature that will theoretically make Maps even more helpful. However, this is a very controversial change and some users will definitely not like it. The idea is to use a microphone to record sounds while driving.

Google regularly adds new features to make everyday use of the Maps application more enjoyable and easier. Only in the last few weeks, the company has introduced the Immersive View function (displays the real appearance of the streets we intend to drive on),

At the same time, Google, which made users extremely angry (according to many, the new version looks bad). Now it is possible that Google is preparing another new product that most people will not like.

Google wants Maps to listen to your car’s interior. It’s also about safety

As reported , Google will apparently consider introducing a new feature with noble goals, but it may not appeal to users. The Map application for smartphones may include a function of collecting and analyzing sound from the surroundings. The company would use this data – collected while driving with Google navigation turned on – to detect possible dangerous situations on the road.

The smartphone could, for example, detect the sound of an ambulance that is approaching the user’s car every moment. The algorithm would then analyze the sounds in terms of their origin (whether they appear outside the vehicle or come from, for example, the radio). Maps could then warn the driver about the hazard.

Of course, the functions do not end there, because by analyzing sounds, the application could also modify the driving route or recommend exits in order to create a corridor of life. Unfortunately, this feature will involve Maps constantly listening to the surroundings, which most users may not agree to. For now, however, the described idea is only a patent and it is not certain that Google will ultimately decide to use it.
