The number of stores in Poland has just reached 3.5 thousand. branches. The chain’s newest discount store was opened at ul. Poznańska 1W in Skórzewo near Poznań (Greater Poland Voivodeship). This is the first Biedronka discount store equipped with an electronic price label system.
Revolution in Biedronka. Electronic price lists were introduced instead of paper labels
The new solution aims to help avoid inaccuracies in the price marking of goods. “It is enough to associate a given product with its price saved in Biedronka’s central SAP system, so that each time the price changes, it is automatically placed on the store shelf as the correct one” – . Electronic labels are also intended to help reduce the consumption of paper that would have to be used to print new price tags. For the convenience of buyers, e-markings closely resemble standard paper, so they do not cause eye strain even after looking at them for a long time.
Environmentally friendly store. Biedronka invests in recycling and energy saving
The new store in Skórzewo was designed in accordance with the 3.0 standard, i.e. in such a way as to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Among the solutions used there, Biedronka mentions LED lighting, closed refrigerated shelves that use CO2 gas, photovoltaic panels on the roof that power the store, and a recycling machine. A new type of machine allows customers to return plastic PET bottles and aluminum cans from previously purchased drinks. In addition, in the parking lot in front of the building there is a place for a charger for electric cars, which can be used by two vehicles at the same time. “We want to minimize our impact on the environment and increase the awareness of our customers about responsible choices for our planet,” summed up Paweł Stolecki, operational director and member of the management board of the Biedronka chain.
