The Sejm of the Republic of Poland, i.e. the official YouTube channel of the Chancellery of the Sejm, already has (as of 11:30 a.m. on Thursday) 125,000. followers. On Wednesday, the channel was watched by 26,000 people. fewer Internet users, and on Tuesday it had approximately 80,000. followers. Within two days, we had an increase in subscribers by over 50%.
Politicians may envy such an improvement in the result (at least in percentage terms) among the most popular stars of YouTube and other social media platforms. For example, Elon Musk, the absolute king of Twitter (currently X), recorded an increase in the number of followers by 44% in just over a year. (however, we are talking about completely different numbers here – 114 million at the beginning of November 2022 and 164 million currently).
Silver YouTube button for the Chancellery of the Sejm. The channel is breaking popularity records
This is, of course, the result of the enormous popularity that Sejm sessions are currently enjoying on the Internet. Tuesday’s proceedings were watched live by over 65,000 people. people. This despite the fact that nothing special was happening in the plenary hall and the broadcast took place in the middle of the day.
The broadcast from the third day of the session of the Sejm of the 10th term (November 21) on Wednesday was number 1 of the Polish Trending tab. Currently, it has already dropped to third place on the list, and the highest step on the podium is taken by… the broadcast from the fourth day of the meeting (November 22). In the top ten (8th place) there is also an interview with Sławomir Mentzen on Radio ZET (“S³awomir Mentzen on the Sejm: Rudeness. There was more culture in my primary school. They are making a pigsty”).
This is an unusual situation, because the list usually opens with entertainment videos by popular YouTubers and the so-called shorts (YouTube Shorts – short videos recorded vertically). Now the most watched creators had to give in to the politicians gathered in the plenary hall.

Along with the popularity of recordings of the proceedings, the number of subscribers to the official YouTube channel of the Chancellery of the Sejm is also growing. At the moment he has 125 thousand. fans, but this value is growing very quickly. In the last dozen or so hours, the channel has exceeded the threshold of 100,000. followers, which means that he may receive the so-called silver YouTube button.
This is an award granted by the platform for achieving a specific number of fans. The lowest threshold (100,000) is rewarded with a silver button, i.e. a commemorative plaque with the platform’s distinctive logo and a dedication to a specific creator. Youtubers who have collected one million fans receive a gold button, and the highest distinction (for 10 million followers) is a diamond award. If only the administrators of the Sejm channel are so willing, they will receive a silver distinction from the American platform.
Young people occupy YouTube. They watch the sessions of the Sejm
What is more important, however, is that politics, or rather the changing political situation in Poland, interested young audiences. As they wrote on Wednesday, citing the opinion of experts, this is primarily due to the young electorate, who showed up at the polls in large numbers during the last elections and is now showing increased interest in the activities of the new majority. Young people want to check whether their votes were cast for the right candidates for MPs.
This is the result of the transfer of interest in the elections themselves to YouTube and the rejuvenation of the electoral electorate. In previous elections, turnout was much lower, mainly among this younger group. Now young people have gone to vote in droves and it can be seen on YouTube. This is not a platform for elderly audiences, but rather for middle-aged and younger ones
– said media expert Adam Szynol from the University of Wrocław in an interview with the website.
People also noticed that they can watch the Sejm for free and it is sometimes better than pathostreams
– added Marcin Makowski, journalist of the weekly “Wprost”, quoted by Wirtualnemedia.pl.
Currently, recordings from all four days of the Sejm session produce results that the YouTube channel of the Chancellery of the Sejm could only dream of so far. The broadcast from the first day (November 13) was viewed by a total of 913,000 people. times. The following days recorded results of 667 thousand, 715 thousand, respectively. and 654 thousand views. And this is only if we take into account the official Sejm RP channel on YouTube. And the largest online media and television stations in Poland also carry out their rebroadcasts.
Within about an hour of writing this text, the Sejm RP channel gained another two thousand followers.
