– Recently, they have been receiving more reports of fraud from the Wejherowo district – says Asp. staff. Anetta Potrykus, press officer of the District Police Commander in Wejherowo. However, one of them deviated from known patterns. It all started when a resident of Wejherowo advertised that she had a washbasin for sale.

She lost her life savings and just wanted to sell her old sink

A potential buyer contacted her via a sales portal and asked to discuss the transaction on another Internet portal. During the conversation, he sent the woman a link that, when clicked, redirected to the woman’s account page. When she clicked on it and logged in, she immediately got a phone call. A man who pretended to be a bank employee answered the phone. He explained to the woman that someone was probably trying to withdraw money from her account and pretended to want to help her.

– He convinced the woman that in order to secure her account, she should give him the authorization code. The woman gave him this code, and then others. She was told that the money would be transferred from her account to the technical account. This led to various transactions and transfers from her account – the whole situation was a policewoman. In this way, Wejherowo Mix lost PLN 500,000.

The police warn against fraudsters

Police officers report that in recent days they have been informed about fraud more and more often. What connects them is contact. The scenarios of these conversations are different, but all of them lead to giving a stranger money or giving him access to your account. – Let’s be vigilant, remember not to give Blik codes to anyone, let’s not make bank transfers to people we don’t know and let’s not give criminals access to our bank account – warns the police.
