Only until the last Friday until noon Poles submit applications for the issuance of the current ID card. From Monday, offices across Poland will be accepting applications for new ID cards. As announced by the government, appropriate technical solutions will be implemented on Sunday.
New ID cards – fingerprints and signature
New ID cards bring several changes, and the key ones are two. The first is to add information about the two fingerprints of each adult holder of such a document. These data will be sewn in the electronic layer of the ID card.
In order for the information on fingerprints to be recorded, 7,450 scanners were sent to 2479 offices in Poland to collect them – he boasted.
The second biggest novelty is the return to the handwritten signature of the holder, which will be found in the graphic layer of the document. The signature was withdrawn from the evidence in 2015, but will now be placed again at the bottom of any new evidence.
Besides, there were some minor changes. There will be, among others the designation (code, eg PL) of the country against the European Union flag, and the field “ID number” will be replaced with a new signature – “Series and document number”.
Due to the addition of fingerprints to the evidence, the submission of applications for the issuance of the evidence online. At least for most Poles. This option will be available in the case of evidence for children up to 12 years of age, because they will not be used for fingerprints and the signature specimen.
The rulers explain that the introduction of new evidence results from the need to adapt Polish regulations to the Regulation of the European Parliament and the EU Council 2019/1157 of June 20, 2019. The goal is to harmonize national regulations in all EU countries.
Replacing the evidence with a new one is not obligatory. Citizens with still valid IDs do not have to name them. New evidence in people over the age of 12 will have a validity period of 10 years. Children under the age of 12 will receive documents valid for 5 years.
