At least 2,500 foreigners have voluntarily left Peru in recent days along the northern border bordering Ecuador.after the expiry of the period given by the government to migrants to regularize their situation in the country, the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter) reported.
An official statement shows that the National Police (PNP) reported that from November 11 last year to this Wednesday That number of people who left via the Tumbes region has been recorded.
The minister assured that for several months he had coordinated and met with representatives and authorities of countries in the region for the voluntary return of foreigners who had not completed the regularization process in Peru, which had a period of six months.
This regularization process was completed on November 10, after which the National Supervision of Migration reported that the total 214,633 applications for obtaining the Temporary Permanence Permit (PTP).
“Foreigners who have not started their process have lost the opportunity to regularize their immigration status and will face the so-called Pasee after their intervention,” he noted.
The exceptional special administrative sanction procedure (Pasee) was laid down by government decision who amended and included several articles in the migration law this Tuesday.
The rule provides for the expulsion from the country of migrants in irregular circumstances, as well as those who endanger or threaten public order, internal order and citizen security.
The minister assured that this new immigration policy is ‘based on unlimited respect for fundamental rights’.
The procedure involves a single hearing, virtual or in-person, which may not exceed 24 hours from the date Police ‘detain’ foreigner in irregular conditionalso for a maximum period of another 24 hours.
If the violation is proven at trial, Migrations will issue a resolution ordering your immediate deportation, but if additional measures are necessary, the case will be referred to the provisions of the ordinary administrative procedure.
The Immigration Superintendence also has the authority to impose sanctions on land, sea, river or lake operators transporting irregular migrants, and to supervise accommodation services.

Prime Minister Alberto Otárola stated this last Monday Irregular migrants “must return to their country, very simple, that is the decision the government has taken”.
“Here come the people that our country allows to come. It is not a country where anyone who wants to enter while breaking the rules. What must be assured here is the peace and security of 33 million Peruvians,” he said.
