WhatsApp has announced that voice chats will be available to large groups on the Meta messaging service in the coming weeks, as an alternative to group conversations.
Voice chats will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks, starting with chats with at least 33 membersthat is, it is reserved for the time being for the largest groups, details Europe Press.
This type of chat is also secured with end-to-end encryption, which prevents a third party outside the group from accessing the content of the communication, as happens with calls and personal messages.
Those responsible for this messaging service, owned by Meta, understand that there are times when “people only need to talk to the chat members who are availablewithout losing the option to continue sending messages to people who aren’t.
Voice chats are also presented as an alternative to group calls, as they ring for each member of the group. Instead, new voice chats start with a window that pops up in the group and you just tap it to join.
They also keep call controls integrated, displayed at the top of the chat, meaning you can quickly unmute, hang up, or send a message without having to leave the conversation. (JO)
