The return of GTA? Misfire. But Forza and the Guardians of the Galaxy are delightful [PREMIERY JESIENI]

This autumn in the gaming world was full of great returns, although the biggest one by far turned out to be a complete disaster. Who amazed, who disappointed and who surprised the most?

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition (4/10)

With a remaster of three iconic hits serii Grand Theft Auto players had high hopes. After all, who and who, but Rockstar Games does not disappoint. Yet it fails. Refreshed versions GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas These are extremely underdeveloped productions, and also fraught with errors.

A few weeks after the premiere, Groove Street Games studio, which is responsible for this remaster, has already solved the most annoying problems, but the current technical condition The Trilogy still does not justify taking almost PLN 270 from the portfolio. If you really want to come back to Groove Street, please wait a few months – the game will be cheaper and more polished then.

Call of Duty: Vanguard (6/10)

A year without Call of Duty is a year lost. In November, once again we went to the most important battlefields of World War IIto fulfill a soldier’s duty. CoD: Vanguard offers great graphics, an extensive multiplayer mode and a pleasant, though highly chaotic gameplay. Unfortunately, the narrative layer fails, but who is playing this game for the plot? It is better to draw a veil of silence over the “Zombie” mode. Sledgehammer Games – don’t go this way.

Battlefield 2042 (5/10)

If you are fans of war FPS games, but you do not like the Call of Duty series, you belong to the Battlefield camp with almost 100% certainty. The new version of the game, as in the case of CoD, does not change the gameplay. And as in the case of Sledgehammer, the multiplayer plays the first fiddle here, with the All-Out Warfare mode, where up to 128 players can meet on the map.

The maps themselves are varied and really huge – they are probably the largest locations we have ever seen in the Battlefield series. The audiovisual setting is fine, but it is difficult to ignore the many bugs and glitches that the creators have still not fixed. One more thing, there is no single player campaign in the game. But – I’ll repeat – who plays Battlefield for the plot?

Far Cry 6 (6,5/10)

The latest installment of the popular Ubisoft series takes us to Yara, a fictional country engulfed in the revolutionary chaos (evidently inspired by Cuba), headed by the cruel dictator Antonio Castillo. Far Cry 6 fares better in almost every respect than its predecessor, which was not too difficult, however, because the fifth installment of the game was simply a big disappointment.

Here we find the next-gen graphic design, great open world with beautiful locations, lots of extra activities, and a lot too satisfying system fighting. On the other hand, the story is disappointing, as it is full of clichés and banalities as well as one-dimensional characters. However, if you are looking for a typical game “sandbox” in which you will spend 30-40 hours, Far Cry 6 is unlikely to disappoint you.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One (7,5/10)

I must admit that I have a fondness for the studio Frogwares and the two previous installments of games about the adventures of the most famous detective in the world. Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is sure to join this noble group. As the title of the game suggests, this time we will go back to the beginnings of the career of Holmes, who after the death of his mother decided to return to the island family and face the past.

The game by Frogwares studio draws handfuls from its predecessors, but at the same time it brings one fundamental novelty: the open worldwhich we can travel almost freely. As befits a title about Sherlock Holmes, we also find here an interesting plot, challenging and diverse puzzles and an atmosphere straight from the best stories of Arthur Conan Doyle.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (8,5/10)

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a third-person action fictional game with an excellent plot that the director of the film adaptation of Guardians would not be ashamed of. Everything comes together here: There is humor, well-written dialogues and “flesh and blood” characters. All this is also accompanied by pleasant graphics and – of course – a memorable soundtrack.

This is perhaps one of the biggest positive surprises of autumn, but mainly because after the disaster it turned out Marvel’s AvengersI had virtually no expectations of the Guardians of the Galaxy gradaptation. Fortunately, the creators from the Eidos Montreal studio proved to me that you can take a known license and make good use of it. I salute you!

Forza Horizon 5 (9/10)

Forza Horizon 5 is the best installment in the series and one of the best games of the year. We can find almost everything here: picturesque landscapes of Mexico, phenomenal audiovisual setting, lots of activity and a very good dexterity driving model.

It has never been so diverse and colorful. Sitting behind the wheel of a Ferrari, BMW and Lamborghini, we will cross the endless desert, sandy coast and dense jungle, visit picturesque towns and drive to the top of the volcano. These visual fountains are accompanied by dynamically changing seasons and arguably the best weather effects in the history of games.
