Ancient coins were found near the town of Arzachena in Sassari province. The agency cites Italian researchers who estimated that the bronze coins were minted between 324 and 340, after the monetary reform carried out in the Roman Empire by Emperor Diocletian. The coins come from various mints and are fully legible.

The discovery was made by a diver who noticed metal objects at the bottom of the sea. Then, the site was examined by divers from the special department for supervision over archaeological monuments and carabinieri from the cultural heritage protection department. The group found a huge number of coins in excellent condition in the sand. – This is one of the most important numismatic discoveries in recent years.
