Safe Mobility facilitates “free access to protection and other legal routes to the United States and other countries,” explained last August via Diario Las Américas, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Spanish media, Kristina Rosales.
The initiative is in Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and recently in Ecuador.
Through this Safe Mobility Program, Directorio Cubano said, the migrant “will be able to obtain asylum or parole in a participating country. In this case, these include the United States, Canada and Spain.”
On the Safe Mobility site, they add that the United States government has announced the expansion of legal routes to that country for refugees and migrants in South and Central America.

In Directorio Cubano, they noted that “the immigration status of each person is not taken into account when accepting applications.”

Safe mobility Costa Rica
In agreement with the governments of the United States and Costa Rica, the program helps eligible Nicaraguan and Venezuelan migrants and refugees move legally and safely to the United States.

Safe mobility Ecuador
The first phase of the Office of Safe Mobility (OMS) Initiative began on October 18, 2023 in Ecuador.
This currently targeting Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, Venezuelans and Colombians who were present in Ecuador on October 18, 2023 or earlier.
Applications in Ecuador:
Beginning November 20, eligible individuals can apply online through the Safe Mobility Initiative for Ecuador portal.
Eligibility: Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, Venezuelan and Colombian nationals who were present in Ecuador on or before October 18, 2023 and who meet one of the requirements at the time of application following criteria:
