Google Maps with a new feature we’ve been waiting for for years. Finally, it reaches Polish drivers

Google Maps has started showing speed limits in Europe. An extremely useful function that has been available in the competition for years has finally made its way to Maps. And it already works on the phones of Polish drivers.

Google has added dozens of new features to Maps in recent years. However, most of the functions were intended to make it easier for us to use the application to plan a trip or virtually explore the world. Now, an extremely important feature that many drivers have been waiting for for years has finally been added.

Google Maps with speed limits also in Poland. At last

These are the current speed limits that have been present in competing applications for a long time. Even Waze maps, which also belong to Google, had this function. Speed limits were displayed to drivers on Google Maps, among others. in Usa. The company announced at the end of October that the new product would also appear in Europe within a few days, and this actually happened. Importantly, it is also already operational on roads in Poland.

An icon with the speed limit on a given section of the route will be visible in the navigation mode, right next to the current vehicle speed in the lower left corner of the screen. We checked and the function actually works, for example in Warsaw, but unfortunately still not on all roads. While the maps correctly showed the maximum speed limit on the busy Wisłostrada street, the icon disappeared on smaller streets away from the center.

Interestingly, Google has experienced similar delays in introducing functions important to drivers to Maps in the past. In the past, the application was criticized by, among others: due to the lack of speed camera warnings available from competitors.

There will be, among others: Immersive View (the function allows you to display the real appearance of the streets you intend to drive on) and “Lens in Maps”, i.e. the ability to display the location of searched points on the image from the smartphone camera in augmented reality. Only one new feature has been prepared for drivers – Maps will begin to show in a more precise way which lane is best to use to efficiently exit, e.g. from a highway.
