Intolerance, blindness, anger… it was all an explosive mixture. A cocktail between fight and revenge that claimed two lives, that of a father and his son in Brooklyn.

What started with a claim escalated into a discussion. What happened next was recorded in an instant. The video captures the powerful moment when a woman talks to a man standing at the edge of a staircase, a young man emerges from an apartment and then an adult. The two subjects start arguing.

The second goes to the other and shows him a pair of scissors – it is not confirmed, Univisión emphasizes – and the woman tries to restrain him, to prevent an attack from happening.

That man does not listen to the woman and within seconds the person standing on the stairs pulls out a gun and shoots the other person.

The son tries to run away, but the emboldened person shoots him several times. The woman entered the apartment and the injured adult also wants to enter, but falls to the floor. When the violent neighbor saw him, he approached him and shot him again.

Impact on Brooklyn

The double murder took place on the night of Sunday, November 29, 2023, on the third floor of a building in Brooklyn, at 1418 East Flatbush.

Apparently the father and his son had been arguing ‘loudly’ and that neighbor heard them, complained about the family dispute and everything got out of hand.

According to police, the news network noted, the gunman “then took the elevator, got out and left.”

Mathurin’s wife, Marie Delilles, testified that the neighbor “hit the ceiling in anger because of the noise coming from his apartment.”

Delilles said her son was a good boy and asks how someone could tear a family apart like that. He said they were Haitians and arrived at that building four years ago.

“I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I heard a bang, bang, bang. I asked if anyone was making noise. The children said no, Mom, that no one had made a sound. My husband hit back. The man went forward and kicked the door,” he said of what happened last Sunday night.
