ANFR authorizes sales of iPhone 12 in France, excluding overseas territories
French authorities have allowed Apple to resume sales of the iPhone 12 throughout the country. This is stated in a message from the French National Frequency Agency (ANFR).
The agency’s statement clarifies that Apple has released an update that reduces the electromagnetic radiation of the iPhone 12. In this regard, the American company can resume sales of smartphones in the country.
ANFR representatives noted that after the update was released, electromagnetic radiation from smartphones reached normal levels. Sales of devices were allowed throughout France, except for the overseas departments of Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Mayotte and Reunion. The iOS update for Apple smartphone users in these regions will be released later before the end of the year.
Until 2022, France remained the only region in the world where Apple smartphones were sold along with wired headphones. This was required by law that controlled the sale of devices that emit radio frequency radiation.
The ban on the sale of iPhone 12 in France became known in mid-September. At the same time, Apple did not admit that their smartphones could be a source of life-threatening radiation.
