Who killed the Iranian filmmaker

Investigations to clarify motives and who was behind the double murder began quickly in Iran.

First they reported two prisoners, then seven. Finally, police spokesman Saeed Montazerolmahdi reported that the alleged killer was among the suspects already in custody for the crime, state agency IRNA said, EFE reported on October 19.

Authorities have not identified the main suspect or provided any insight into the motive.

The questions started to be answered on Monday the 23rd: “The main suspect worked as a gardener in Mehrjui village and was disliked for financial reasons.”

This was reported by the head of the judiciary in Alborz province, Hossein Fazeli Harikandi, El Colombiano reported, citing AFP.

According to Fazeli, the filmmaker owed the gardener the equivalent of about $600.

The number of people involved in this bloody incident dropped to four. The subjects secretly entered the filmmaker’s home, whom they surprised while watching TV. The woman was attacked in her room, the media reported.

“I had people in prison who were sentenced to death because of a post on Instagram”

A life dedicated to cinema

Mehrjui “was one of the founders of the new wave of Iranian cinema in the 1970s and his film ‘The Cow’ is considered the first work of this realist movement,” according to EFE.

The Mehr Office indicated that he had received 49 awards inside and outside Iran during his prolific career.

His wife, Vahideh Mohammadifar, was a designer and screenwriter.

In 1993, Mehrjui won the Golden Shell at the San Sebastian Film Festival for the feminist film Sara. Four years ago he presented his latest film, Laminor, according to EFE.

The killers viciously stole not only the debt, according to Tasnim’s office, but also “several pieces of gold” from the couple. (JO)
