American users have noticed that Meta is using Facebook to annoyingly promote its newest social networking site. Posts began to include inserts that can be treated as regular advertisements that will make our lives more difficult.
Facebook is introducing another annoying feature. It cannot be turned off
Facebook started suggesting users suggested posts from the Threads portal, which Meta launched in July this year. The goal is, of course, simple – to encourage us to click and, preferably, join Mark Zuckerberg’s next social networking site. This is not the first time that Meta tries to promote its other platforms using the popularity of Facebook.
Threads ads appear at the very top of the so-called feed (list of posts) and – as they note – unfortunately they cannot be turned off in any way. Some people simply do not want their opinions published on Threads to be displayed to their Facebook friends, because these are two completely different websites. Threads resembles the old Twitter (currently X) and is a competitor to Elon Musk’s platform.
However, Meta stated in response to user complaints that it introduced the new feature for our benefit – to “make it easier to view the latest content from Threads directly on Facebook and Instagram.” However, there are many indications that the real reason is the poor results of Threads.
Fortunately, Facebook’s new “feature” is unlikely to appear in Poland. At least not anytime soon. In our country – as in the entire European Union – ). Apparently the company also wants to introduce it to Europe, but it is unclear when this will happen.
