The Justice of Colombia has seized property belonging to drug trafficker Pablo Escobar Gaviria and obtained with money from illegal activities.

Escobar was one of the best-known drug traffickers in the history of Colombia and the region, who spread terror in the 1980s and 1990s and whose base of operations was in Medellín.

The property is located in La Asomadera 2, Antioquia city, and has an estimated commercial value of over 12,000 million pesos (approximately $2.5 million).

Farewell to ‘narcotourism’? Why capo Pablo Escobar’s house museum in the city of Medellín was demolished

There was also a museum displaying articles referring to the former head of the Medellín Cartel and his criminal record. The house had been acquired by Escobar and in order not to be discovered, it was given the name of frontmen; However, after his death it passed into the hands of different people.

One of them was Roberto de Jesús Escobar Gaviria, brother of the drug trafficker, who took actions to maintain control of the property and occupied it continuously and made several adjustments.

The property was not transferred to his name, but to that of a woman.

The Public Prosecution Service has imposed precautionary measures, including suspension of disposal, seizure and confiscation of property. It will now be managed by the Special Assets Society (SAE).

Last July, the Medellín mayor’s office decided to demolish a building linked to the drug trafficker and where it operated the so-called “Pablo Escobar House Museum.” (JO)
