Basic iPhone 16 series smartphones will be released with advanced A18 processors. This was reported by MacRumors.
The reporters cited a disclosed report by Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu. According to the specialist, in the next generation Apple’s launch smartphones – iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus – will receive an A18 processor. The 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models will come with the A18 Pro chip.
Pu noted that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will “jump” a generation as they will skip the A17 processor. The analyst emphasized that the A17 Pro, which the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max received, turned out to be a “transitional” chip, and Apple will no longer use it in its devices. Other characteristics of the new generation of smartphones have not been reported.
Starting in 2022, Apple began equipping its launch and premium smartphones with different processors. So, if in 2021 the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro had an A15 chip, then the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models released a year later received A15 and A16 processors, respectively.
In mid-October, an insider under the nickname MajinBuOfficial revealed the first images of the iPhone 16. The specialist noted that the future Apple smartphone may receive a camera with an updated design, but the company’s plans may change.
