Since taking over Twitter at the end of 2022, Elon Musk has been doing everything he can to increase the platform’s poor revenues. During the billionaire’s reign, the platform not only changed beyond recognition (including rebranding to X), but also introduced many new options and functions that are available only to people paying a monthly subscription.
Elon Musk announces two new paid packages for X. One with advertising
Elon Musk announced on Friday at X that X Premium will be expanded with two new subscription levels. The first, cheaper one will include all the features available to subscribers, but will not turn off ads. The second one blocks the display of ads, but it will be more expensive. The billionaire did not provide the prices of the new packages and did not reveal how the second one will differ from the currently existing paid X option, which gives access to additional functions and disables advertising.
The changes are to appear “soon”, and ultimately we will see three different options for paid access to the social networking site, a model well known from streaming platforms, e.g. Netflix. In this way, Elon Musk probably wants to offer packages better suited to various users, including those who are not afraid of advertising and do not intend to pay too much, among others. for the characteristic mark of a verified account.
In addition, X Premium offers quite a lot of features that are not available to users using the free version of the platform. This includes: creating longer posts (25,000 instead of 280 characters), formatting them, editing already published posts, priority display of your own comments by other users or publishing videos in better quality. However, X Premium costs a fortune. In Poland, a monthly subscription for smartphones costs PLN 49 every 30 days. The annual fee is not much cheaper – PLN 514.99 (after the discount).
