The Orionids are something worth seeing. When should you look for a shower of stars in the sky?

Shooting stars will soon appear in the night sky. NASA reported that the Orionids are one of the most beautiful star showers this year. When to observe meteors and what should you remember?

reported that the so-called shooting stars can be seen from October 2 to the beginning of November, but the night from October 21 to 22 is the moment of their greatest activity this year. You will be able to see up to 23 meteors per hour in the sky. The Orionids are characterized by leaving bright streaks ranging from several seconds to even minutes.

The Orionids will appear over Poland in October. How to observe shooting stars?

The Orionids are considered one of the most beautiful star showers of the year. Meteors are characterized by brightness and speed that can reach up to 66 km/s when entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Then some of them may become fireballs.

NASA experts reported that it can be seen in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Before starting the observation, it is worth buying a sleeping bag, a blanket or a deckchair so that you can lie down comfortably in a position that allows you to admire the sky. It is worth remembering to go to a place away from the city and street lights that may disturb the observation. After less than 30 minutes in the dark, your eyes will adjust and the meteorites will be easier to see.

Meteors are particles left over from comets and pieces of damaged asteroids. As comets orbit the Sun, the dust they emit begins to spread out, creating a dust plume. When they collide with the Earth’s atmosphere, they disintegrate and create fiery streaks in the sky.

Shooting stars will appear thanks to Halley’s Comet. The Orionids come from it

The Orionids come from Halley’s Comet, which is probably the most famous comet observed in centuries. It was named after Edmond Halley, who in 1705 discovered that three comets return approximately every 76 years, and suggested that they were in fact the same comets. As he predicted, the comet returned and was named after him. The celestial body orbits the Sun once every 76 years. The last time Halley’s Comet was seen was in 1986. The object will not reenter the solar system until 2061.

At the beginning of October we could admire the Draconids, also called Giacobinids. The most favorable conditions for viewing meteors occurred on Sunday, October 8 in the evening. In the past, hundreds of meteors from the Draconids shower could be seen during shooting star nights.
