Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that travelers transiting through Mexico’s airports will require a visa.

This is reflected in a statement published on the social networks of the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador, which indicates that from October 22, this requirement must be met in order to board a flight to Mexico.

The agency indicated that this is necessary have a visitor visa without permission to engage in paid activitiesregardless of the duration of the transit at the airport.

Who doesn’t need a visa

There are cases where the visa is exempt. One of these is people with permanent residency in Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland or any other country that is part of the Schengen Area (visa for Europe), as well as the member states of the Pacific Alliance.

Those who have a valid and current visa for Canada, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland or countries that are part of the Schengen area.

This type of visa allows you to undertake short-term tourist, academic, work, religious and sporting activities, i.e. less than 180 days.

The value of this visa is 51 dollars.

In Quito, the embassy is located on Av. 6 de Diciembre N36-165 and the United Nations and the opening hours are from 8am to 5pm. (JO)
