The high-profile case of the brutal murder of Colombian-born surgeon Edwin Arrieta continues to make headlines. More than two months after the tragedy in Thailand, expectations remain in case Daniel Sancho has to appear in court or due to the appearance of information about the relationship they had that marked their lives.

The Spanish press searched among those close to the doctor and found the specific nickname they had given him in the country of Arrieta.

Videos recorded by Edwin Arrieta in Spain come to light: he accompanied Daniel Sancho when he opened a ‘hamburger restaurant’ in Thailand two months before the tragedy

Arrieta, ‘the Count’ of Lorica

As if it were a noble title, the plastic surgeon was jokingly referred to as “the Count of Lorica” because, in the words of La Razón, “he amassed a great fortune and his lifestyle made it clear that he had no luxury of his own.”

The nickname seemed in keeping with the town where Edwin Arrieta was born. Lorica is a municipality in the Colombian department of Córdoba and they say they call it ‘Old and Stately City’.

Returning to the victim’s finances, he recalls what doctors charge for this type of surgery and that Arrieta also “moved” his money.

“He had begun to diversify his businesses and make investments to get a greater return on his money, even betting on Daniel Sancho’s talent in the kitchen,” the aforementioned media explained.

Edwin Arrieta had invested money in his businesses and had plans to start a new venture in Spain, with clinics opened in Madrid and Barcelona.

Shaved, with bitten nails and with eyes under his eyes: this is the new image that Daniel Sancho finds from prison in Thailand

Did Edwin Arrieta want to start a family?

The same Spanish media recently published that Arrieta, 44, is thinking about starting a family and is toying with the idea of adopting a child.

The Colombian surgeon had plans to become a father and wanted to do so with Daniel Sancho, a 29-year-old chef, reports La Razón.

After a conversation with Viviana, a friend of Arrieta, who was murdered and dismembered in Thailand in early August, the press published that the Colombian doctor “wanted to become a father and had already informed himself of the steps he had to take to achieve it.”

Antena 3 published about that friend’s participation in the program Y Ahora Sonsoles: “As for his sexual orientation, he didn’t tell them anything and, as he said, they didn’t care. But he did say he wanted to have children and get married.”

He knew, they emphasize, of the difficulties he might encounter during the adoption process, but he apparently maintained the illusion of being a father.
