Lying on a bed, with wounds on her right arm, a young woman waits and begs for help. She is among those kidnapped by Hamas on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when the militants used extreme violence to enter the music festival, which was taking place near the Gaza Strip.

The injured woman is a French-Israeli citizen and her name is Maya (Mia) Sham. Hamas surprised everyone on Tuesday, October 17, by releasing the video of the young girl.

The world press reported on Maya’s pain: “Hamas releases first video of hostage still held in Gaza after festival attack,” was the headline in the vast majority of digital media.

Help for Maya

Maya first sits in front of a camera and addresses the message to the world:

“Hello, my name is Mia Schem. I am 21 years old and from Shoham. Right now I am in Gaza. Early Saturday morning I came back from a party in Sderot. I seriously injured my hand. “They took me to Gaza and took care of me here in the hospital.”

She said she had surgery on her arm and the surgery took three hours.

“They took care of me and gave me medicine. All I ask is that you take me home as soon as possible, to my family, my parents, my brothers.

Please get me out of here as quickly as possible,” the young woman said.

This is how the young woman expresses herself in the recording, subtitled in Arabic and collected by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, 20 Minutes reports.

Other images show Maya (Mia) in her bed and she does not take her bright eyes away from the movements someone makes when connecting her right hand and arm.

The girl was at the music festival that took place in the Negev desert. Horror broke out there on Saturday morning, October 7, when Palestinian militias carried out armed raids.

‘I didn’t know until yesterday whether she was alive or dead. “All I knew was that she could be kidnapped,” the woman said.

“I beg the world to bring my daughter back home,” the shocked woman asked. Without half measures, he described what is happening to his daughter and the dozens of victims of this conflict: “This is a crime against humanity.”
