US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesdaydays after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited him as a gesture of “solidarity” in the context of the outbreak of conflict in the Gaza Strip.

“He comes here at a crucial time for Israel, for the region and for the world,” Blinken said, explaining that the president will travel to “reaffirming American solidarity with Israel”.

He added that the US president will travel to Israel to demonstrate his “iron commitment to its security” following the attack by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which killed more than 1,400 on Israeli soil, including 30 Americans.

In this sense, he has indicated that Biden will “make it clear again,” such as “has done this since the Hamas massacre,” that “Israel has the right and even the obligation to defend its people against Hamas and other terrorists and to prevent future attacks.”

“The president will hear from Israel what it needs to defend its people, as we continue to work with Congress to meet those needs,” the head of US diplomacy announced at a news conference from Israeli territory after meeting with Netanyahu.

Blinken also said the United States gave Israel guarantees to work on providing foreign aid to the impoverished and blockaded countries. Gaza Strip as Israel prepares for a ground offensive against territory controlled by Hamas.

Biden hopes to “hear from Israel how it will develop operations in a way that minimizes civilian casualties and allows humanitarian assistance to reach civilians in Gaza but does not benefit Hamas,” Blinken said.

At our request, the United States and Israel have agreed to formulate a plan that will allow humanitarian aid from donor countries and multilateral organizations to reach civilians in Gaza.Blinken said. (JO)
