Daniel Noboa was elected the new president of the Ecuadorians on Sunday, October 15. This was made official by the National Electoral Council (CNE) with more than 90% valid minutes.
The response was immediate and several politicians have spoken out about the results. In a statement, US Ambassador to Ecuador Michael Fitzpatrick congratulated Noboa on the results.
He also emphasized the commitment of Ecuadorians to democracy in the electoral process.
The ambassador also announced that he will continue cooperation with the government of Guillermo Lasso during the transition phase.
“We look forward to working with the incoming government of Daniel Noboa to continue advancing our shared priorities in security, inclusive economic development, governance and the environment,” it said.
The statement also emphasized that the countries share pressing challenges and priorities and are committed to a lasting relationship.
