The unique change of address tool Enterprise Change of Address (E-COA) is the latest development announced by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for migrants.

The E-COA is a digital application that will help immigrants enormously. What is it about?

This application, the same agency notes on its website, will allow people who have outstanding applications, requests or requests for service to more easily update their address with USCIS.

E-COA will significantly improve the speed and efficiency of the process for USCIS customers to update their addresses with the agency.

E-COA allows “most people who have an online USCIS account to update their mailing and physical addresses with USCIS for pending applications, petitions, and service requests in one place, eliminating the need to update the address in different locations work, complete a Form AR-11, Alien Change of Address Card; call the Contact Center or visit a local USCIS office.

E-COA “is designed to automate address changes for virtually all types of forms.”

Customers, the U.S. agency says, who do not have pending applications or petitions can use this tool to comply with the obligation to notify USCIS if they have moved.

How the tool is available

USCIS indicates that the E-COA tool is only available in English and can be accessed through an online USCIS account, regardless of whether a person’s case was filed online or by mail.

Who cannot use E-COA in the initial phase?

Infobae notes that “some categories of foreigners, such as people who have pending or approved applications to become victims of violence against women, cannot take advantage of the E-COA in the initial phase.”

If you change your address with the US Postal Service (USPS), your USCIS address will not be automatically updated. You should, Richards Jurusik Immigration Law asks, use the E-COA tool to ensure your address is up to date for all USCIS-related matters.

Address changes made through the E-COA do not affect Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or Privacy Act (PA) requests. According to the Immigration Department, “If you need to change your address for a FOIA or PA request, please email FOIAPAQuestions@uscis.dhs.gov.”
