Apple has released an update which fixes the iPhone 15’s overheating issues, and includes other improvements and additional fixes.
The new Apple model was presented at the beginning of September and comes in four models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
According to the 9TO5MAC site, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that these overheating issues could be due to design flaws.
Many iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users complained that the new devices get very hot after using them for a while, even when doing basic things like browsing the internet.
An iPhone 15 Pro Max test shared on a Chinese video platform found that downloading the popular game Genshin Impact on a 5G network caused the phone to heat up to 122ÂșC. The iPhone remained at a similar temperature while running the game in high-resolution mode. YouTube channel TheRelaxingEnd shared a video showing how the iPhone 15 Pro suddenly started freezing and slowing down while running Genshin Impact, which could be a result of overheating.
iOS 17.0.3 will be available to iPhone users this Wednesday, which can be installed manually from the configuration menu, in the ‘software’ update section. It will also reach mobile phones with automatic updates enabled, details Europe Press.
This release fixes the overheating issue that some users of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro devices noticed as soon as they purchased their new device, especially during battery charging and during extended but not intensive use.
Apple acknowledged days later that it had found a bug in its operating system, but it also linked the problem to some recent third-party app updates that overloaded the system.
In addition to the fix, it also includes improvements and security patches for the kernel flaw (CVE-2023-42824) and the libvpx library vulnerability (CVE-2023-5217). (JO)
