Apple unveils iOS 17.0.3 update that fixes iPhone 15 Pro overheating

Apple has introduced an iOS update that should fix overheating of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max smartphones. This was reported by 9to5Mac.

The iOS 17.0.3 update has become available for download for users of the brand’s premium smartphones, which users complained about due to severe overheating. The update size was about 300 megabytes. The company announced the release of the update in early October.

9to5Mac journalists suggested that in order to eliminate the increased heating of the A17 Pro processor, Apple should lower the processor frequency, and conducted testing. In Geekbench 5 and with the current update, the iPhone 15 Pro showed 2941 points in single-core testing and 7523 points in multi-core testing. For comparison, immediately after its release the phone showed 2914 and 7199 points in similar tests in single-core and multi-core testing, respectively. The authors concluded that if the company reduced the performance of the A17 Pro, it was not significant.

In early October, users in China complained that they received burns due to the overheating of the iPhone 15 Pro. Apple has not publicly commented on reports that the new smartphones could cause injury to their owners.
