Speechless. In an unspeakable torture recorded in Colombia, an indigenous man mutilated the genitals of his nine-year-old nephew.

Nelson Villafaña Torres, an indigenous Arhuaco person, was detained by police for the “outrageous beating,” Primer Impacto reported.

Citing the Public Prosecutor, the program reported that the uncle took his nephew to a hospital “and threatened to kill him,” as El País de Cali also reported.

He asked the boy to lie. He told him to explain that the brutal wound had been inflicted by “an old mule.”

It was determined that the wound was caused by a knife.

Police

After believing he had the situation under control, Uncle Nelson, 49, remained calm and left. They arrested him in Barranquilla, that city’s police reported on September 26, 2023.

The prosecutor in the case, María Cecilia Córdoba, stated that – with sufficient reason – “the child is afraid of Nelson and it has been a problem for the minor to speak.”

But the lie had “short legs” and the minor “was in a lot of pain, in front of the doctors and a police investigator,” ultimately revealing why his uncle attacked him in such a brutal manner.

As punishment he attacked him, now he is in prison

Nelson Villafaña attacked the boy with the machete because he was hopping on some political propaganda posters, Primer Impacto noted.

My uncle accompanied me with a machete as I hopped and jumped.

Child, according to El Heraldo

Villafaña, candidate for the Council of Pueblo Bello, in the Cesar department, said the “wounds were caused by a wild animal that entered the house where he was resting,” Infobae reported.

The terrible event took place there in Pueblo Bello and the evil uncle did not accept the accusations.

Infobae reported that there was a warranty check judge sent Villafaña Torres to prisonfor the crimes of aggravated torture, in heterogeneous and simultaneous competition with aggravated intentional personal injuries.

Despite not accepting the charges, this suspect is accused of causing serious injuries to the reproductive system of his nephew, who was just 9 years old, as punishment.

Infobae also explained that as a result of the terrible attack, “the minor had to be transferred to a medical center in Valledupar and then to the Clínica de la Costa in Barranquilla”, where “the doctors amputated the limb”.

What happens to the minor

The Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF) last week appointed “a surrogate mother who will provide support while he is discharged, and until the most appropriate protective measure has been taken to guarantee his rights.”

The minor also receives psychosocial support, RCN News indicates.

A group of indigenous women rejected the case of violence. They told RTA Noticias: “This situation is completely deviant, perverse, inhuman and contrary to the good practices that represent us as an indigenous Arhuaco people, recognized as caretakers of Mother Earth, as well as a pacifist attitude (…).”

For these women who defend children under the age of nine, “no form of abuse against our childhood should go unpunished.”
