Paid TikTok is getting closer. This way you will get rid of ads from the application

TikTok will soon start testing the paid version of the application. As part of the monthly subscription, “premium” users will be able to use the website without advertising. The company confirmed that it is indeed preparing such a solution, but – for now – the tests will concern one country.

More and more social media platforms are introducing or considering introducing paid “premium” subscriptions, which are intended to give users a number of additional benefits – such as the lack of annoying ads.

It introduced a premium subscription a few years ago YouTube (in Poland it has been available since 2019), and a few months ago he decided to launch a paid subscription the new head of Twitter (currently X), Elon Musk. Even Facebook it recently offered a paid service Meta Verified, although this one is addressed primarily to those who make money on Facebook and Instagram.

The published reports that TikTok is also testing a premium subscription should not surprise anyone. We are talking about the most dynamically developing social platform in the world, which is currently used by over 1.7 billion users.

TikTok with a premium subscription. How much will users pay?

According to Android Authority, Ad-free TikTok will cost $4.99 per month. Initially, the website claimed that premium subscription tests would start in the USA. However, this last information was denied by the owner of TikTok, ByteDance, which explains that the tests of the premium service will be carried out on a single (unnamed) “English-speaking” market.

However, a question must be asked here, does TikTok even need an ad-free plan? At the moment, it is a website with probably the least invasive and irritating ads that appear relatively rarely and can be scrolled very quickly and easily.

The point is that when the previously mentioned YouTube launched the Premium subscription, the number of ads interrupting playing videos was also relatively small. Only in the following months did it start to grow exponentially, which was supposed to convince some users to upgrade to a paid subscription. Today, using the free version of YouTube is a real pain, and videos are interrupted by sponsored spots literally every few minutes.

It is possible that TikTok will follow the same path, and the number of ads on the platform will increase after the launch of the new subscription. But this is just speculation. Another thing is that a premium subscription will only solve the problem of “traditional advertising”. Meanwhile, the real plague of TikTok is the crypto-advertising activities carried out by many popular tiktokers, who do not properly label sponsored segments in their content.

The platform actively fights this phenomenon, but at times it resembles fighting windmills. . Some time ago, the office declared open war on influencers who – let’s not be afraid to say it – simply deceive their viewers.
