Apple has received approval from French authorities to distribute the iPhone 12 update in the country where it happens will reduce the levels of radio frequency waves that exceeded what was recommended and motivated the withdrawal from the market.
The French National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has completed this review of software updates provided by Apple to resolve the radiation issues detected in the iPhone 12 model in mid-month, details Europe Press.
The analysis performed takes into account tactile contact at a distance of 0 mm (contact with the limbs) for the rate of radio frequency energy absorbed by the human body when using these devices; and at a distance of 5 mm from the body, with the mobile phone in a jacket pocket or in a bag.
Specifically, this organization warned that the iPhone 12 exceeded the established limits in at least one of the two tests conducted. So if the maximum limit for the limbs is 4 watts per kilogram (W/kg), the Apple device is 5.74 W/kg. In the other analysis it does not conflict with the regulations, which set the limit at 2 W/kg.
“Tests confirm that this software evolution allows this device to respect the localized SAR limit of the ‘member’ and thus respect current regulations“, the ANFR said in a statement. With the update, the absorption rate for the limbs is 3.94 W/kg, below the limit of 4 W/kg
After receiving the approval, Apple can start distributing the update for the iPhone 12 (firmware 4.06.02.), limited to French territory for the time being. (JO)
