Former President Rafael Correa, Evo Morales, former President of Bolivia; and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, from Spain, They will meet leaders of the Latin American left this weekend at the IX meeting of the Puebla Group, in the Mexican state of the same name, located in central Mexico.

The event, with the motto “In unity we move forward,” will take place from September 29 to October 1 at the International Baroque Museum, where there will be working tables in which the Puebla Group will develop a progressive foreign policy project.

The event will see the participation of 200 people, including six former presidents of Ibero-America, including, in addition to those mentioned, the Colombian Ernesto Samper, the Honduran Manuel Zelaya and the Dominican Leonel Fernández.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and Delcy Rodríguez, Vice President of Venezuela, will also participate.

On behalf of Mexico, Mario Delgado, leader of the ruling party, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), will be present.

One of the objectives of their meeting is to define policies to combat hunger, economic blockades, the climate crisis, dollarization and the ‘neoliberal’ model.

One of the most relevant topics will be the proposed ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, to achieve a debate for peace.

The organizers of the event assured that these types of spaces serve to regain the voice of Latin America and the Caribbean through progressive governments.

The Puebla Group is a political and academic forum composed of representatives of the Latin American political left and some Europeans, which emerged on July 14, 2019 in the Mexican city of Puebla. (JO)
