Today is the last day we call the famous football video game FIFA. After the end of the agreement between EA and FIFA itself, announced for more than a year, We have to get used to calling it “EA Sports FC”, thus opening a new stage, this time with more space for women’s football.

The official launch of Ultimate Edition is this Friday, September 29, although the Electronic Arts company has invited early access to EA Sports FC 24.

One of the most talked about developments on social networks is the possibility of creating mixed teams, of male and female players, on the same virtual playing field, in the ‘Ultimate Team’ mode.

“It moves like football. It is played like football. “It’s identical to football,” as announced on the EA website to encourage players to approach the most popular sport in the world thanks to a trio of technologies that bring realism to every match: Hypermotionv, Playstyles, Frostbite.

EA’s ally FIFA

The ‘Fifa’ series was launched in 1993 by Electronic Arts and quickly became the undisputed leader in the sector, with around 150 million players last year, mainly thanks to its licensing.

Thanks to this popularity, EA submitted its financial demands to the International Football Federation (FIFA). In May, both partners announced the end of their collaboration.

Those responsible for the American company left this association and changed the name of the game, which, according to The New York Times, has generated more than 20 billion dollars in almost thirty years.

“When we were called ‘Fifa’, we could not take advantage of our potential due to the restrictions imposed by the rights,” negotiated with the Federation, explained David Jackson, vice president of the EA Sports FC brand.

EA wants to evolve the game and transform it into “a global football platform powered by video games.”

“Now that we own the name, everything depends on us,” the manager emphasizes.

“The ‘Fifa’ license no longer exists and the game will not include the Football World Cup, but apart from that the functionalities have been virtually unchanged or even improved,” Mat Piscatella, video game analyst at Circana, told AFP.

This expert expects that “FC 24” will be among the 10 best-selling video games in the United States this year. (JO)
