MacRumors: Apple will not release a cheap version of the Vision Pro headset
Apple has adjusted its plans for the release of a new augmented reality headset. This was reported by MacRumors.
The journalists cited a report from authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko, who said that the company decided to cancel the launch of cheap augmented reality glasses. In particular, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman previously reported on the release of a device accessible to the general public.
Ming-Chi Ko did not disclose the reason for canceling the development of the device, but emphasized that the company is striving to significantly reduce the costs of producing the classic version of Vision Pro. According to specialists, Apple intends to supply 600 thousand units of headsets to the market in 2024.
Ming-Chi Ko also said that Apple is considering the possibility of releasing a second generation of augmented reality glasses. According to the corporation’s plans, the device should be released no later than 2027.
The American company Apple introduced its first mixed reality helmet, Vision Pro, on June 5. The cost of the basic version of the device was $3,499, or about 340 thousand rubles, the device will go on sale in early 2024.
