Google celebrates its 25th birthday today, which is traditionally celebrated by changing the search engine logo, i.e. the so-called Google Doodles. Going into Google on Wednesday, we will see logos changing over the last quarter of a century – from the first one (invented a year before the company was founded) – to today’s ones. Finally, a logo appears with the numbers 2 and 5 sewn into the name.
Google celebrates its birthday. The search engine has been operating for 25 years
The official date of founding of Google is September 4, 1998, but on September 27, 1998, the Internet search engine was launched for the first time, from which the history of today’s Internet giant began.

Google was founded by two friends, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who laid the foundations for the world’s most popular search engine today much earlier, in 1996. Then, while still students, they started working on the Page Rank algorithm, which was initially called “BackRub”.
The name Google was created by accident. Page and Brin, unable to find a name for their search engine, asked a friend for help and suggested using the number googol (one followed by one hundred zeros). The name was supposed to refer to the huge amount of data indexed by the search engine. However, Larry Page made a mistake when registering the domain and entered Google instead of googol.
