MacRumors: iPhone 16 will receive an additional button on the end of the device
The first reports about the next generation of Apple smartphones have appeared. This was reported by MacRumors.
According to an insider report, all iPhone 16 series smartphones will come with an additional button. It will be located on the right side of smartphones, just below the device’s power button. The purpose of the new element is not clear.
Sources noted that the button will not be physical, but capacitive. That is, it will respond to the touch of a finger and simulate a press using a haptic response – like the Home button in the iPhone SE and older Apple smartphones.
MacRumors journalists suggested that the new button will be responsible for releasing the shutter in the device’s camera application. At the same time, the authors emphasized that the iPhone 16 series smartphones are at an early stage of development, and the company’s plans may change. The release of Apple’s new series of phones is expected in the fall of 2024.
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, which were released on September 12, have a new “Action” button. Users can independently configure it to perform various scenarios.
At the end of September, analyst Ming-Chi Ko assessed sales of Apple’s new line of smartphones. According to specialists, the best-selling device in the series was the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
