9to5Mac: Apple is investigating the reason for resetting privacy settings in iOS 17

Apple has acknowledged a problem with privacy settings in iOS 17, reports 9to5Mac.

According to journalists, the error was brought to the attention of social network users. Yes, visitor X (formerly Twitter) under the username Mysk said that after installing iOS 17, privacy settings on his iPhone were reset. In particular, the “Important Locations” and “iPhone Analytics” settings have changed, which made it possible to collect more information about the owner of the gadget.

The problem discovered by Mysk was confirmed by other users of iOS 17. Apple admitted the error and promised to use an internal investigation to find out why some privacy settings were reset to default in the new OS.

Representatives of the corporation noted that when updating iOS or setting up a new iPhone, the settings should also be saved or transferred. The company also emphasized that Apple will under no circumstances be able to study information about the user’s important geolocations, since the data is protected by end-to-end encryption.

Apple released iOS 17 on September 18th. The update for iPhone includes customizable contact cards, the ability to send delayed audio and video messages in FaceTime, and StandBy mode.
