Insider: the release of the iPhone 15 coincided with a strike by store employees in France
Employees of Apple stores in France may not go to work on the day of the release of new iPhones, since the appearance of the devices coincides with the start of the strike. This was reported by Insider.
Representatives of the Apple Retail France unions said they intend to schedule a strike by employees in the retail industry for Friday and Saturday, September 22 and 23. Apple Store workers are not satisfied with their wages: Apple is proposing a salary increase of 4.5 percent, while employees are demanding a 7 percent increase.
At least four unions representing Apple workers in France have joined the strike. The start of sales of iPhone 15 smartphones is scheduled for September 22, the day the strike began, so the release of the devices may be disrupted. Judging by the Apple website, there are 12 official company stores in France.
“We will remind management that it is not our actions that harm the company, but rather their denial in the face of its employees,” Apple workers said. A representative of the CGT union noted that employees of almost all Apple stores in France will not return to work, while another speaker said that stores will remain open, but in a limited manner.
Previously, French regulators ordered Apple to suspend sales of the iPhone 12. The ban was associated with increased levels of electromagnetic radiation from smartphones.
