Perhaps the most important novelty, which covered all variants of the device is the change of the charging standard from Apple’s Lightning to USB-C present in competitors. This is the result of the European Parliament’s decision, which requires all smartphones sold in the EU, starting from autumn 2024, to be equipped with a USB Type-C connector.
Theoretically, Apple could wait another year to switch to USB-C and introduce this change with the premiere of the iPhone 16. However, the Cupertino company does not want to wait and decided to make the change now. Thus, the iPhone joined other Apple devices that already use USB-C.
