DigiTimes: New Apple laptop under $1,000 coming in 2024
The American company Apple will introduce a new affordable portable computer in 2024. This is reported by DigiTimes.
Media journalists cited industry sources that Apple planned to develop a new line of computers. Laptops will get a simplified case and will cost less than $1,000, or about 97,000 rubles. The company will position the devices as devices for the educational sector and office needs.
Thus, Apple intends to impose competition on the Google Chromebook and other low-cost computers. Computers of the new series will have a metal case, but some parts will be made “of other materials.”
Experts made this assumption based on an analysis of orders from Quanta Computer and Foxconn, Apple’s main suppliers. Apparently, an affordable computer will be released in the second half of 2024.
Currently, Apple laptops are presented in two lines. The base MacBook Air series retails for a minimum of $999 in the US, while the advanced MacBook Pros are available for a minimum of $1,299.
At the end of July, sources told DigiTimes that Apple had cut production of its 15-inch MacBook Air models. Insiders reported that Apple was disappointed with sales of laptops with a large display.
