Since Friday, other financial institutions have also started to respect mDowód in the mObywatel application. This means that from now on we can identify ourselves with mID, just as if we presented a traditional, physical ID card. Information on this matter was provided by the Minister of Digitization Janusz Cieszyński.
mDowód in the mObywatel application must be accepted by banks
Pursuant to the act from July 14, mDowodu in the application is equivalent to the traditional one. But the vacatio legis period for financial institutions has been extended so that they can adapt and integrate with the system for verification purposes, explained Michał Kalinowski, the plenipotentiary of the Minister of Digitization for the mObywatel application, in an interview with .
He assured that banks should not refuse to recognize mID. – As the Ministry of Digitization, we conducted educational activities together with the Polish Bank Association and most associations of entrepreneurs for many months. If we hear about situations where given institutions for some reason do not accept such a document, we will first conduct educational activities aimed at encouraging the document to be accepted – explained Michał Kalinowski.
mObywatel gains new functions. In the application we will find a driving license
A new version of the application called mObywatel 2.0 has been in operation since July 14, with new features added regularly. mObywatel 2.0 includes e.g. a school and student ID card, a pensioner ID card and a Big Family card. We will check penalty points and display an e-prescription or a COVID-19 vaccination certificate. At the beginning of August, the Ministry of Digitization started implementing the provisional driving license. It allows you to drive vehicles immediately after passing the exam before collecting the physical document.
