Russians warned about surveillance through smartphones without the Internet

Devices that work with top-secret information are usually not connected to the Internet. However, being offline still does not guarantee the complete safety of gadgets, expert Pavel Myasoedov warned the Russians in an interview with the Prime agency.

He emphasized that most malicious software can work even without an Internet connection, up to major updates or changes in the operating system of the device.

At the same time, viruses can compromise a mobile device for weeks before its owner enters the global network. At this point, all the accumulated information is sent to external servers. We are talking about images, about recording voices stored in the gadget’s lair, Myasoedov explained.

In some cases, attackers spy on victims without resorting to cellular data. There are a number of technologies that allow you to read what a person has typed on a keyboard or cell phone screen.

“Highly sensitive sensors or laser scanners are installed near the workplace and analyze the microvibrations left on the keyboard by hands,” the expert described the principle.

More complex technologies include the analysis of electromagnetic oscillations. But most often this requires that the gadget is connected to the charger, summed up Myasoedov.

Earlier, experts said that there are several ways to calculate and stop surveillance through a smartphone camera. The first step is to see if the downloaded applications have access to the camera. It can be in well-known applications and instant messengers, as well as in not the most important and popular programs.

You also need to pay attention to the fact that the continuous operation of the camera would lead to a quick discharge of the phone.
