USA. lowers its growth estimate for the second quarter by one tenth

The economy of USA it grew 0.5% in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous quarter, one tenth less than estimated last July, when the advance data for gross domestic product (GDP) was published.

The Bureau of Economic Statistics (BEA) published this Wednesday the first revision of the indicator, the second of the three figures offered by the GDP. The final one will be published on September 28.

The half-point growth in the second quarter is the same figure that the country recorded in the first quarter of the year.

The agency also reduced the figure for the annual growth rate between April and June and estimated that it was 2.1%, three tenths less than previously estimated.

A figure almost similar to that registered in the first quarter, 2%. The downward changes in these figures were due to downward revisions in private investment in inventories and non-residential fixed investment, which were partially offset by upward revisions to state and local government spending. Imports were revised upwards.

The data is known at a time when the effects that the eleven interest rate hikes carried out by the company are having on the economy are being closely examined Federal Reserve (Fed) for the last year and a half.

Figures like the GDPunemployment or inflation will be decisive for the regulator to decide, at its next meeting in September, whether to continue raising rates or take a break.
