Hackers associated with the Kremlin and operating under the name NoName057(16) boast about their latest achievements on Telegram, which was the first group to hit DDoS (denial of service) attacks on the websites of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and several banks.
Russian hackers attacked Polish websites. “Russophobic moods of Polish authorities”
The hackers claim that this is a response to Poland’s hatred of Russia and the “Russophobic mood of the Polish authorities”. The group writes that by attacking the websites of Polish institutions and companies, it wants to “help honest Polish citizens who oppose the authorities of their country drowning in Russophobia.” However, it does not explain how Russian attacks would help us.
“Our DDoS rocket launchers are aimed at Polish targets today,” the group NoName057(16) wrote further and listed the names of the companies that were to be targeted – the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Bank Pekao, Raiffeisen Bank, Plus Bank, Credit Agricole, BNP Paribas, Santander Bank Polska and several others. The list also includes the Trusted Profile and the Envelo service of Poczta Polska.
As “Rzeczpospolita” writes, experts from the Israeli company Check Point, specializing in cybersecurity, have already confirmed the attack. NoName057(16) has already attacked targets in Poland several times. In April, they carried out attacks on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, and in August on ICT companies, reminds Rzeczpospolita.
