“Is it for me? How beautiful”: a granddaughter gives her 88-year-old grandmother Elba a doll, the first in her life and the one she always wanted for Children’s Day

Elba, an 88-year-old grandmother, received from her granddaughter a gift she had been waiting for all her life: a doll, the one she always wanted to celebrate Children’s Day.

The grandmother, from Argentina, filled social networks with tenderness with her response. She really didn’t expect the gift and after she calmly removed the paper it was wrapped around, her face was filled with emotion: but is it for me?, she asked as a girl.

When she heard again that it was for her for Children’s Day, Elba kissed the doll on the head and wiped away the first tears.

“What a beautiful thing,” she repeated excitedly. She then went outside to show her husband and other relatives the long-awaited gift… “Look,” she said.

The video, made by her granddaughter Florencia Mohr, has moved TikTok users.

Florencia told La Voz del Pueblo that the grandmother told them, “When I was a girl, I never had my own doll. They always managed to play with what they had, and besides, they used bottles as if they were dolls. She was the youngest of seven siblings, so because there were so many of them and maybe they didn’t have the same capabilities, it was a very big family.”

When he celebrated the first year of marriage, the granddaughter added, the grandfather fulfilled that dream for his wife, but Elba borrowed the doll and they did not return it.

The granddaughter shared the video on TikTok and many have seen the emotion of grandmother Elba, who received the doll with golden hair, which was Florence’s own favorite in her childhood.

The grandmother was clear in describing her ideal doll: she didn’t want her as a baby, the relative noted.

But it wasn’t the one video that Florence’s followers saw.

“Grandma, you’ve become famous,” surprised her when she talked about the impact of the video in which she received the doll.

In that second material, Elba revealed the name that would call her “Marisa” and calculated her age: one year.

There is no doubt about the love Florence has for Elba. “She always took care of her four grandchildren (…) She always played with us, she took care of us when we were sick… whenever I go home, she treats me to alfajor, with sweets, as if I try to make me feel like a girl again,” he described.

And it’s the same granddaughter who sets the bar high in her conversation with La Voz del Pueblo: “Really, when I grow up, I’d like to be the grandmother she is, or at least half of it.”

The happy octogenarian put her gift in the living room for all to see: “You have to take good care of her, at this age I don’t want another doll.” (JO)
