In the early hours of Monday, August 7, at the Tran family home, the violence did not sleep, it did not give up. Instead he revealed to everyone… a man out to be abusive; a woman who suffered and a daughter who was determined to end the horrors that took place there.

Nghiep Kein Chau, 54, was the stepfather of Angelina Tran, 21. That man and his mother had been together for 19 years and decided to get married in 2022, according to Blu Radio.

Angelina, The New York Post noted, heard “noises in the kitchen” in her room and, knowing the origins, decided to go check it out to put an end to the scandal and beatings.

There, her mother was physically abused by her stepfather and the young woman came out to defend her mother, Linh Tran. But Chau didn’t hold back and started attacking them both, the New York outlet indicated.

In the middle of the dispute, Angelina’s mother was able to look for help, leaving her daughter in the struggle with her stepfather.

As the woman tried to contact 911, Angelina and Chau fell to the kitchen floor and the man was able to grab a knife.

At that time, tension was rising in the home of Beacon Hill, a neighborhood in Seattle, United States, as described by The New York Post.

Angelina’s murder is mourned in the area as she was an engineering student at the University of Washington and spent time supporting the Asia Pacific National Center on Aging.

He was also brave and that act cost him his life because he was protecting his mother. The stepfather was blind with anger and the more than a hundred wounds he inflicted on Angelina prove it.

Chau was detained and confessed to what led him to commit that atrocity: he beat his wife in the belief that “he would divorce and keep the money”.

In addition, he acknowledged that the anger increased when Angelina showed up in the kitchen that early morning of August 7.

The police found the stepfather in the act; Angelina was bloody. She was attacked 107 times!

The officers arrived about 15 minutes after Linh was able to communicate, Blu Radio reported. She was still afraid that Chau would find her. The fears were not unfounded: “Security footage from the home also showed Chau searching for Tran’s mother after she called the police,” said the Seattle Times, quoted in The New York Post.

Officers found Chau, still holding the knife with blood on his clothing, before reportedly admitting, “I killed someone.”

What’s in the accusation documents is terrifying, according to the newspaper mentioned above: “He stopped the spate of stabbings several times during the riot, including once to change clothes and another time to get another knife.”

Chau will appear before the Justice Department on August 31. Bail was set at $5 million and he was committed to the King County Correctional Center after being charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Angelina’s tragic end has left her friends in shock, who describe her as a “source of joy” and “a jewel of a human being.”
