Patently Apple: Apple began work on Vision Pro glasses during Jobs
Apple planned the release of augmented reality glasses about 20 years ago. This is reported by Patently Apple.
Media journalists have noticed that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has registered Apple’s patent for an augmented reality headset. According to the documents, the patent application was filed by the company back in 2007.
Based on this, the authors concluded that the IT giant confirmed its plans to release alternative reality glasses 17 years ago – almost in parallel with the release of the first iPhone, when the company was led by Steve Jobs. The disclosed report does not list all the features of the Vision Pro, but says that the device will display multimedia data, creating a “movie theater effect”.
Also back in 2007, Apple engineers emphasized that the future gadget can track the user’s head turns and hand movements. “In general, this is a rather complicated description of a device similar to the Vision Pro,” the authors of the publication noted.
Apple introduced Vision Pro augmented reality glasses on June 5th. The cost of the device was $ 3,499, sales will begin in early 2024.
