At least three people have died and others have been hospitalized after drinking smoothies contaminated with listeria.in the American city of Tacoma, apparently in the state of Washington for poorly cleaning a restaurant’s ice machinesaid local health authorities.
The investigations were conducted at a facility of the Frugals chain, with six victims admitted between February 27 and July 22. They all showed traces of the same bacteria, apparently from a machine that remained in use until August 7.
In a statement, Frugals said she was “deeply saddened” by the news and is cooperating with authorities.
“We are devastated and deeply regret any damage our actions may have caused.Frugal said. “We are committed to making any changes deemed necessary to maintain our high level of operations and prevent this from happening again.”
The Washington Department of Sanitation has ruled out any other suspect restaurants and has urged those who may have consumed the product to contact authorities if they develop symptoms, he said. CNN.
