Andrea Avelina is 103 years old and has a huge desire to live. With wrinkled skin, a clear mind, no glasses and a cane to walk, he walks the halls of a shelter in Piedras Negras, a town in the state of Coahuila, on the border between the United States and Mexico.

For a recent report published by CNN in Spanish, she said she had the strength, “desire and illusions” of a 25 or 30 year old woman.

At his advanced age, he decided to leave his country, El Salvador, and go to the United States. She is a centenarian and optimistic migrant.

He will wait to be reunited with his son and grandchildren

CNN indicated that on August 1, 2023, the Salvadoran centenarian arrived at the migrant reception center run by a woman named Tania.

His journey is surprising: “I did not take refuge from anyone to get out of there, I left at dawn as if they were following me.”
